Zone4 Private Server
The Thai Zone4 client, build 589, in English, on our own server.
A 2.2 GB zip. To make an account you need an invite: DM Ryner.
How to start playing
- Get an invite. DM Ryner. You get a one-time sign-up link, and one link makes one account.
- Make your account with that link: a login name (3 to 16 letters, digits or
_) and a password (4 to 32 characters). The game sends your password without encryption, so use one you don't use anywhere else. - Download the game with the button above.
- Unzip it: right-click the zip, Extract All, and pick a folder like
C:\Games\Zone4(not Program Files). - Start it: double-click
Play.batin that folder. - Log in with your login name and password, pick Server 1, then Join Now. The first time, you make your character.
Updates
Play.bat keeps the game up to date. Each time you start it, it asks this server what changed, downloads only those files, checks each one against the SHA-256 in the server's list, and then starts the game. If the server can't be reached, the game starts as it is.
Your account and characters live on the server, so nothing is lost.
If your game folder has no update.ps1 in it, it's from before updates worked this way: download the zip once more and extract it over your folder (say yes to replacing files).
My panel
My panel is a page for your own characters. Log in with your game login and password.
If something goes wrong
| You see | Do this |
|---|---|
| "Windows protected your PC" | Click More info, then Run anyway. The game isn't signed, so Windows warns about it. |
| A DLL is missing | In the game folder, run source\VC_redist.x86.exe, then source\dxsetup\DXSETUP.exe, and start the game again. |
| Some files didn't update | Close the game if it's open and start Play.bat again. It tries them again every start. |
| Anything else | DM Ryner a screenshot. |
Check it yourself
MANIFEST.txtin the game folder lists every file that isn't byte for byte the official one, and the script that made it. The scripts are in the source (the server in Rust, the patch and translation scripts, and the scripts that set up the server and build the game folder).- Unzip both and give the two folders to your AI. A good question to ask it: "Compare MANIFEST.txt with the scripts in the source. Does every changed file come from a script that does what the manifest says? Is there anything that sends data anywhere other than the game server?"
SHA256SUMS.txthas the SHA-256 of every file. Anyone with an official 589 install can check that the files marked official really are the official ones.Zone4Local.exeis the officialZone4.exewith the byte patches inpatches/offline_589.json;patches/apply_offline_patches.pychecks the original bytes before it patches anything.update.ps1is the updaterPlay.batruns: a short PowerShell script you can read in Notepad. It only talks to this server.
What this can't prove
The game itself is the publisher's closed-source code from the official install. The manifest shows what we changed and what made each change; nobody here can vouch for what the publisher wrote. The anti-cheat (XIGNCODE) is in the folder as shipped but is never started.
